Jovic has been finishing matches better than she starts them. She defended her Guadalajara title without dropping a set, then broke Yastremska six times in a 6-4, 6-1 win after an untidy opening set.

Chwalinska’s best recent hard-court tennis came indoors in Singapore; on quicker courts, her coach says, it is harder for her to show her game. Her outdoor losses to Shnaider, Parks, Townsend and Yastremska, plus a light serve that Fernandez attacked, make the −4.5 games line look a little generous to Jovic.

Chwalinska has played three singles matches in three days, including a three-set comeback against Bouzkova, and had doubles scheduled after her singles on October 14. Jovic has played once in Wuhan; the difference in workload is real, even if the doubles match itself is not confirmed here.

Jovic to win is too short at 1.359. Under 20.5 is less appealing: two close sets or a third would undo it, and Chwalinska’s variety can unsettle Jovic; that is the main risk to the handicap.
