The Phillies remain capable of winning late, especially with their lineup depth and recent bench production. That is precisely why the run-line cushion is preferable to asking the D-backs to secure the final out with an unsettled ninth-inning hierarchy.
Marte’s unresolved status removes a major switch-hitting piece from any confident moneyline argument. Philadelphia’s power also means one Pfaadt location miss can change the score quickly, but the extra run provides useful protection against that late swing.
